C206 – EHM2 TASK 3: CODE OF ETHICS AND LEGAL RESPONSIBILITY ANALYSIS

C206 – EHM2 TASK 3: CODE OF ETHICS AND LEGAL RESPONSIBILITY ANALYSIS

Please use the attached file “C206 – Task 3 – Instructions_Requirements_Rubric” for instructions, requirements, and rubric for this assignment. The chosen company is Walmart, and you will use the “Walmart_Code_of_Conduct” file to accomplish Section A only (as listed in the requirements file). Format the paper on the “C206 – Task 3 – Template” file, with a Table of Contents after the title page, and format the paragraphs the same way they are laid out in the “requirements” section of the rubric; “C206_Task_3” Shows how the paragraph format should look, but do not use any of the contents/information from this file to construct the paper.
It is imperative that the rubric of this assignment is strictly complied with when constructing this assignment. The instructor is an incredible stickler for this and notorious for sending assignments back that do not meet the “competent” level of rubric listed in the instructions file.

Final project Milestone number

Final project Milestone number 2

Overview: The digital marketing landscape is constantly changing, and companies must be nimble and able to develop, evaluate, and change their digital

marketing strategies in a short amount of time. Traditional marketing allowed marketers to create brand messaging and control how it was shared with an

audience. But now more than ever, control over what is said about a brand or product has been put into the hands of consumers. The internet, social media, and

mobile platforms have given rise to the voice of customers, and marketers have had to adapt.

Prompt: For this assignment, you will examine the social media platforms used by the brand you selected. You will discuss how these platforms are used to

support the brand’s digital marketing strategy. Before recommending changes to a brand’s digital presence, it is important to review and analyze its current

state. This will help inform changes and improvements in the new media campaign.

Specifically, the following critical elements from Final Project I must be addressed:

II. Social Media Platforms: In this section, examine the social media platforms used by the brand you selected. Discuss how these platforms are used to

support the brand’s digital marketing strategy.

A. Identify the social media platforms the brand uses and explain how they align to the brand’s target market.

B. Describe how the brand uses each social media platform. Consider what the brand’s social media posts consist of or look like.

C. Describe how the brand must modify posts in order to accommodate the differing functionalities of social media platforms. In other words, how

does a brand need to change a post between various social media platforms in order to communicate the same message?

III. Evaluating Digital Marketing Campaigns: Before recommending changes to a brand’s digital presence, review and analyze its current state. This analysis

will help inform changes and improvements in the new media campaign.

A. Strengths

1. Determine which digital platforms would be most effective for the brand to use. Consider the overall brand, messaging strategy, and

other marketing activities. Be sure to cite examples.

2. Describe what the brand is doing well on digital media. Support your response with examples.

B. Weaknesses

1. Identify a platform that the brand is currently using for marketing and could be improved or utilized more effectively. Support your

response with examples.

2. Determine what the brand could improve on regarding its digital activity. Support your response with examples.

3. Describe how the brand could use research to better focus its digital activity.

Note: The Legal and Ethical Considerations section of Final Project I (section III.B) has been intentionally omitted from this milestone. That section will be

addressed when submitting the complete final project in Module Seven.

Overview: Future Challenges Project

Overview: Future Challenges Project

You will be working on a final project that will synthesize your understanding of leadership models with contemporary social issues. You will analyze one significant policy challenge from the Seven Revolutions Project, undertaken by the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). The seven key policy challenges for current and future leaders are: Population, resource management, technology, information and knowledge, economics, security, and governance.

For example, starting with resource management, you may be most concerned about food and hunger. You could then research food demand in your geographic area. Where is your food supply coming from?  How much of it is grown locally? What is the environmental cost of importing food to your area? What are the statistics regarding hunger in your town or city? Are there neighborhoods without ready access to fresh or whole foods?  What leadership is needed to address one or two of these questions and concerns?

You will submit your analysis and action plan in the form of: (a) 5-7 page paper.

The aims of this project are to help you:

•               Learn about a significant human welfare issue that interests you

•               Practice strategic thinking about long-term trends

•               Learn (or practice) basic research skills for academic and popular sources

•               Apply various leadership theories and approaches to solving a real-life problem

•               Present your findings in a coherent and compelling manner

Assignment 1-

Submit a 1 page paper that identifies the topic you are researching and the research question that will guide your study.  Additionally, include the following components into your proposal:

·         Explain what reading you will need to do and what key words will guide your search.

·         How will you collect data on your topic (Interview, site visit, School Library)?

·         What are the leadership challenges you foresee at this early stage?

Topic: INEQUALITY (Under Revolution 5 “Economics” in the following link)

https://wedgworthleadership.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Seven-Revolutions-Summary.pdf

Assignment 2– Annotated Bibliography

Compile a list of 7-8 scholarly resources in an annotated bibliography. You must use most of all the sources listed in your annotated bibliography in your final paper. Your annotated bibliography should be in correct APA format as well.  Please see the example below of an Annotation:

*Sample APA Annotation*

Ehrenreich, B. (2001). Nickel and dimed: On (not) getting by in America. New York, NY: Henry Holt and Company.

In this book that is based on the journalist’s experiential research, Ehrenreich attempts to ascertain whether it is currently possible for an individual to live on a minimum-wage in America. Taking jobs as a waitress, a maid in a cleaning service, and a Walmart sales employee, the author summarizes and reflects on her work, her relationships with fellow workers, and her financial struggles in each situation.

An experienced journalist, Ehrenreich is aware of the limitations of her experiment and the ethical implications of her experiential research tactics and reflects on these issues in the text. The author is forthcoming about her methods and supplements her experiences with scholarly research on her places of employment, the economy, and the rising cost of living in America. Ehrenreich’s project is timely, descriptive, and well-researched.

This resource is important to my final project because helps to broaden my understanding of how employment relates to the economy and the rising cost of living in America. I plan to use the information found in this article to support my idea that making minimum wage is more detrimental to the economy than raising higher minimum wage standards.

Assignment 3– Final Project

Your final paper should be outlined as follows:

·         Explanation of the key policy challenge and its local manifestation

·         The research questions that are driving the research

·         Your findings

·         An evaluation of the steps taken so far by officials and community members to address this issue

·         What leadership approach(es) you recommend using (e.g. path goal, transformational, etc.) and why

·         A practical implementation plan (e.g. how you would coalesce a group around this issue)

·         Possible objections to your plan and how to address them

Make sure to include the research that was conducted when you found your resources for the annotated bibliography, argue or prove your statement of facts and justification on the decisions made.

Your paper should be 5-7 pages in length, and be correctly formatted following APA guideline, including a cover page and References page.

Redskins No More

Redskins No More

When a vacancy arose on the school board for Gooding Public Schools, Scott Rogers decided to throw his hat into the ring for consideration. A former college professor who had retired to the small Midwest town, Scott was hoping to help the historically “good old boy” board focus more on educational pursuits than its traditional emphasis on high school athletics.

Shortly after Scott was appointed to the board, a local family with Native American ancestry came before the board to ask that the name of the Gooding High School’s athletic teams be changed from the Redskins. The family found the use of Redskins as a team name to be offensive. “The use of the word Redskin is essentially a racial slur,” said Scott, “and as a racial slur, it needed to be changed.”

The request set off a firestorm in the small town of 7,000. The school’s athletic teams had competed as Redskins for 50 years, and many felt the name was an integral part of the community. People personally identified with the Redskins, and the team and the team’s name were ingrained in the small town’s culture.

“We went through months of folks coming to the school board meetings to speak on the issue, and it got totally out of control,” Scott says. “Locals would say, ‘I was born a Redskin, and I’ll die a Redskin.’ They argued that the name was never intended to be offensive and that it honored the area’s relatively strong Native American presence. The local family that raised the issue was getting all sorts of national support, and speakers came in from as far away as Oklahoma to discuss the negative ramifications of Native American mascots. Local groups argued back that these speakers weren’t from Gooding and shouldn’t even be allowed to be at the board meetings.”

Scott felt strongly that the name needed to be changed. In meeting after meeting, he tried to explain to both his fellow board members and those in the audience that if the name is offensive to someone and recognized as a racial slur, then the intent of its original choosing was irrelevant. If someone was offended by the name, then it was wrong to maintain it.

Finally, Scott put forward a motion to change the name. That motion included a process for the students at Gooding High School to choose a new name for their athletic teams. The board approved the motion 5–2. The students immediately embraced the opportunity to choose a new name, developing designs and logos for their proposed choices. In the end, the student body voted to become the Redhawks.

There was still an angry community contingent, however, that was festering over the change. They began circulating petitions to recall the school board members who voted for the change, and received enough signatures for the recall to be put up for an election.

“While the kids are going about the business of changing the name and the emblem, the community holds an election and proceeds to recall five of the seven members of the board,” Scott says. The five recalled members include Scott and the other board members who voted in favor of the name change.

The remaining two board members, both of whom were ardent members of the athletic booster organization, held a special meeting of the board (all two of them) and voted to change the name back to the Redskins.

That’s when the state’s Department of Civil Rights and the Commission for High School Athletics stepped in. They told the Gooding School Board there could not be a reversal of the name change and that Gooding High School’s teams would have to go for four years without one, competing only as Gooding.

Over the course of those four years, new school board members were elected, and the issue quieted down. At the end of that period, the students again voted to become the Gooding Redhawks.

“You know, the kids were fine with it,” says Scott. “It’s been ten years, and there’s an entire generation of kids that don’t have a clue that it was ever different. They are Redhawks and have always been Redhawks.

“It was the adults who had the problem. There’s still a small contingent today that can’t get over it. A local hardware store still sells Gooding Redskins T-shirts and other gear. There is just this group of folks that believe there was nothing disrespectful in the Redskins name. Once that group is gone, it will be a nonissue.”

Business Plan Presentation

Week 10 Assignment – Final Business Plan Presentation

Overview

Business plans provide the information funding sources need to determine whether or not they will invest in your business. For your final assignment, you will prepare a slide presentation with speaker’s notes such as you would use if presenting in person to the funding decision maker you identified in your Obtaining Start-Up Funds assignment. In your presentation, you will need to convince your funding source to provide the funds that your business needs. Your presentation will expand on the outline you created in the Week 4 homework, incorporate the feedback from each of the previous assignments, and include an executive summary, an exit strategy, and speaker notes, plus title and sources slides.

Instructions

Address the following in your presentation:

  1. Include speaker notes to accompany each slide that emphasize and expand on the key points to the stakeholders. Please be clear and thorough as if you were presenting to the investor in person.
  2. Create a one- or two-slide executive summary that is an at-a-glance overview of your business plan as a whole. It should touch on your company profile and goals, as well as each of the heading topics in your outline, including the business model, target market, and funding.
    • Tip: Create your executive summary after you finish building the presentation.
  3. Create one- or two-slides that expand on each of the topic headings that you provided in your outline from the Week 4 homework activity, Business Plan Outline.
  4. For the Business Model slide, incorporate the feedback you received from the assignment, Business Models, to describe your selected business model, and explain why you chose it.
  5. For the Target Market Segment slide, incorporate the feedback you received from the assignment, Target Market Segment, to describe your selected primary and secondary target markets, and explain why you chose them.
  6. For the Start-Up Funds slide, incorporate the feedback you received from the assignment, Obtaining Start-Up Funds, to identify your funding sources, why you chose them, and the sources you decided not to pursue and why.
  7. Create a one-slide Exit Strategy slide where you discuss two key factors you would consider when planning an exit strategy. Provide an explanation to support your reasoning.

This course requires the use of Strayer Writing Standards. For assistance and information, please refer to the Strayer Writing Standards link in the left-hand menu of your course. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.

  • Include a title slide containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The title slide is not included in the required number of slides.
  • Provide a source slide. The source slide does not count in the required number of slides.

The specific course learning outcomes associated with this assignment are:

  • Develop a complete business plan that includes an executive summary and exit strategy.

Develop both an external factor evaluation (EFE) matrix and an internal factor evaluation (IFE) matrix for a chosen organization

  • Develop both an external factor evaluation (EFE) matrix and an internal factor evaluation (IFE) matrix for a chosen organization, and write an analysis of the pros and cons and applications for use of each of these analytical tools.
    Introduction
An EFE matrix summarizes the results of an external audit. Using an IFE matrix to identify and prioritize internal factors fosters communication across functions and allows functional employees to articulate their concerns about the organization’s business condition. An EFE matrix, an IFE matrix, and a SWOT analysis, which identifies the internal strengths and weaknesses and the external opportunities and threats to an organization, are often completed together.
Because of increased turbulence in business markets, an external audit is an important part of strategic management. An external audit includes collecting and evaluating information about competitors, technology, and legal, governmental, political, environmental, demographic, cultural, social, and economic trends in the marketplace. Organizations must empower their employees to identify, monitor, forecast, and evaluate external forces. Failure to do so might mean missed opportunities or ineffective strategies. It is important to use the Internet and information technology to gain information about the competition. Using an external factor evaluation (EFE) matrix and competitive profile matrix can help evaluate markets.
Organizations also audit their internal strengths and weaknesses, including the major functional areas. The core operations of most organizations include management, marketing, finance, operations, research, and information systems. An internal audit helps ensure an organization’s health and may help establish competitive advantage and strengthen bottom-line performance. To do an internal assessment, strategists identify and evaluate internal strengths and weaknesses and formulate strategies for effectiveness. The process of doing an internal audit is an opportunity for employees throughout the organization to participate in choosing the future of the organization. Involvement in the process can energize and mobilize the enterprise.
    Preparation
Select an organization for which to create an external factor evaluation (EFE) matrix and an internal factor evaluation (IFE) matrix. Ideally, the company you choose will be a familiar one and one to which you have easy access, such as your place of employment or a company close to where you live. You may use the same organization for other assessments in this course.
The following resources are required to complete the assessment.
    CAPELLA RESOURCES

    • EFE Matrix and IFE Matrix
      Complete the following:
    1. Using the EFE Matrix Template linked above, record the external factors, weights, ratings, and total weighted scores for your chosen organization. Once you complete the table in the template, discuss the pros and cons and applications for use of this analytical tool. You may record the written portion of the assessment in the template document, or you may create a separate document.
    2. Using the IFE Matrix Template linked above, record the internal factors, weights, ratings, and total weighted scores for your chosen organization. Once you complete your IFE matrix table, discuss the pros and cons and applications for use of this analytical tool for the organization. In addition, propose strategies that address the following. You may record the written portion of the assessment in the template, or you may create a separate document.
      • What do you think would allow the organization to capitalize on its strengths?

A purpose statement is a declarative statement that summarizes a research project’s main goal or goals. A

purpose statement provides some guidance in establishing a research question and serves as an introduction

to the resultant paper or dissertation chapter.

Developing the Purpose Statement

At the beginning of a research project, it is helpful for the researcher to use a declarative sentence to state

the main goal or goals of the project in specific terms. Statements that begin with the phrase “I wish to learn

…” or “I plan to examine …” can be helpful insofar as they can move the topic’s abstract notions to a con-

crete research question, which is the springboard for the resultant research design. Furthermore, a purpose

statement can ground the researcher, providing a point of reference to which the researcher may return, par-

ticularly as the study increases in complexity. However, this does not imply that the purpose statement is final,

because the researcher may revise the statement as needed. If external factors such as unavailability of rel-

evant data force the researcher to make substantial changes to his or her research design, he or she may

want to update the purpose statement to reflect those changes.

Using the Purpose Statement

In addition to serving as a catalyst for the underlying research project, a purpose statement can be worked

into subsequent papers or dissertation chapters derived from the project. Always near the end of the introduc-

tion, a purpose statement states the paper’s intent, scope, and direction. Specifically, it provides for an abbre-

viated preview of the paper’s main topic, while avoiding a discussion of the author’s specific conclusions.

In research papers, purpose statements often start with phrases such as “This paper examines …,” “The main

purpose of this study is to …” or “The aim of this article is to Purpose statements should be specific and pre-

cise, and should avoid vague, ambiguous, or confusing language. This ensures that there is no doubt in the

reader’s mind as to the research project’s intended direction.

Introductions: Purpose Statements versus Thesis Statements

A purpose statement also serves as the foundation for a thesis statement, which provides assertions about

the topic at hand and summarizes the author’s conclusions. Unlike a purpose statement, a thesis statement

provides a cursory answer to the question and is developed after the researcher has gathered evidence,

which is presented in the body of the research paper.

The decision to use a thesis statement in the introduction is determined by the underlying norms of the spe-

cific discipline, as well as the author’s preferences. In some cases, the author may simply state the paper’s

intended purpose at the outset, delaying the discussion of any results until the end of the paper. At the very

least, a research paper introduction should provide a discussion of the research question and some informa-

tion about how the author intends to explore the question, even if the answers are not presented until the

conclusion.

Examples of Thesis and Purpose Statements

Ineffective purpose statement #1: “This paper examines the impact of elites upon elections.” It is unclear

about what types of elites, what types of elections, or even which potential electoral effects the researcher

intends to examine.

Effective purpose statement #1: This paper examines the extent to which public endorsements by political

elites shape electoral participation, particularly in proposition elections where the traditional information short-

cut of partisanship is absent.”

Thesis statement #1: Elite cues help increase electoral participation because they provide information short-

cuts to potential voters who may not be fully informed about the details of a given electoral contest.”

Ineffective purpose statement #2: “This paper examines changes to election laws.” In addition to being non-

specific as to what types of election laws are being examined, it is unclear as to whether the author is exam-

ining the sources of those changes, or the potential impact of those changes.

Effective purpose statement #2: This paper examines the potential impact of the straight-ticket voting option

upon electoral down-ballot outcomes.”

Thesis statement #2: Although Illinois Republicans appeared to eliminate the straight-ticket option in 1997

for partisan reasons, evidence suggests that Democrats might have actually benefitted from this ballot format

change.”

Review the case study

Part 1

Review the case study “Redskins No More” In a 1 page paper, answer the following questions based on the case study.

·  What change were the people in Gooding trying to avoid? Why do you think they wanted to avoid this change? What tactics did they use to resist change?

·  Would you describe the efforts of Scott Rogers or the school board as adaptive leadership? Why or why not?

·  How would you describe the holding environment created by the school board? Do you think it was successful? Why or why not?

·  Citing examples, describe how the school board engaged or didn’t engage in each of these adaptive leader behaviors: (1) get on the balcony, (2) maintain disciplined attention, and (3) give the work back to people.

·  What group would you describe as the “low-status group”? How did the school board seek to give voice to this group?

Part 2

In the previous case study “Redskins No More”, the school board made a number of mistakes.  For this assignment, turn back the clock and assist the school board, and Scott, with establishing a plan for how to effectively change the Redskins name.

In 1-2 pages, put together an action plan to present to Scott and the school board.

·  Pay close attention to the community opposition and work to develop strategies to help the opposition shift its beliefs and values so that the name change can occur without great incident.

·  Be sure to include supporting evidence from your textbook and/or other scholarly research within your response.
