The purpose of the course reflection is essentially to answer the question “What did you learn in this course?”. You will identify a topic or theme that appears throughout the course. For instance, you could discuss women’s rights, race relations, protest, terrorism, climate issues, etc. You will want to identify something that transcends a single chapter. For instance, the Vietnam War would not be a good topic even though it was very significant. Instead, you could discuss military conflict, the impact of the draft, veterans issues, pro war/anti war movements or other topics.
