Observing the technician (RBT)

While conducting supervision of a technician you observed several errors. You are observing the technician (RBT) following all aspects of a teaching plan accurately including having the reinforcer prepared, prompting with the least to most strategies, and using a fixed ratio of one reinforcement schedule. You noticed the technician waited until the end of the session to record record the clients responses to each trial instead of after each trial as called for in the plan. What type of feedback would you provide to the technician and how would you go about providing the feedback to correct these behaviors and ensuring these errors are corrected

The type of feedback that I would provide to the technician would be to provide a brief verbal corrective and remind the technician to repeat the teaching session with a fixed ratio schedule. I would provide this feedback in private because it is just as important as it is to note errors in the first place. It seems as though the technician has been doing well, however I do not want him to think that these errors are okay and continue them. It will be good for him to understand how important it is that he always follows directions and continues to practice all aspects of his teaching plan consistently. Besides, it is not always the most obvious errors that people make, it is the subtle ones that are more noticeable and require more attention. I believe these errors were more noticeable because the technician used a fixed ratio schedule and not a variable ratio schedule which allows for occasional error.
