Presentation 20 Autism
Presentation 20 Autism
Each student will complete 2 presentations. A list of presentation topics is provided
at the end of the syllabus. The articles for each synthesis are listed. You are required to prepare a presentation based on the 3 articles. You can include additional articles and resources; however, the core of the presentation should follow the assigned articles. Presentations are due on the Wednesday of the week they are due. Email the presentation directly to me so that it can be uploaded within the course.
For the presentations, you will record your audio within the presentation using PowerPoint. In the Notes section in your PowerPoint presentation you are required to provide a transcript of each slide. A link to a short video demonstrating how to record the audio is contained within the class in the Course Info section on Canvas. You will need Office 2010 or later. Discounted versions can be purchased through
Arcadia. Please use “good presentation skills”, i.e. do not read from the slides but use bullet points and discuss. These presentations are designed to demonstrate your knowledge, comprehension and application of the subject, not your reading skills.
Your presentation should identify the core elements of the articles and synthesize them when appropriate. This assignment is not just a regurgitation of the material. Remember you are to be the teacher and present in a manner that will enable the other students to learn the information. The following criteria are contained in a scoring rubric you can access in the Course Info section.
Key Presentation Requirements:
• 15-25 minutes
• Cover a minimum of the 3 required articles
• Begin with an introduction/agenda of the presentation breakdown
• Material broken down into bullets with only a few words per bullet
• Clear description of the topics along with examples
• Inclusion of own experiences when appropriate
• Smooth presentation with a clear comfort level of the material
• Discussion of the implications for behavior analysts who are practicing
• Proper APA article citation on corresponding slides
• Incorporation of visuals and external resources to elaborate on the material
• End with a conclusion pulling together the main points
