Write a six page research paper about addiction of anything in this world, you can include literal and non literal addictions. Explain how it can neither be a good thing or a bad thing but it makes us human. Use sources such as  Death of a Naturalist by Seamus Heaney, Thanatopsis by William Cullen Bryant, Wild Geese by Mary Oliver, and The Post Office by Rabindranath Tagore. You can take a few things out of each here and there but you don’t have to use these sources if it can’t correlate to the paper. Also add a few sources of your own

Increasing Glocalization in Mass Media

Increasing Glocalization in Mass Media

This revised proposal should be a revision to your first proposal
I UPLOADED  THE ORIGINAL WITH THE COMMENTS FROM THE PROFESSOR PLEASE READ THEM AND FOLLOW HER RECOMMENDATIONS AS WELL AS THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW
THE SHOW IS THE MASKED SINGER
Most of the writing you do for this proposal can probably be parts of the final paper.
  • Tighten your argument, so that your thesis is more focused and coherent
  • Make sure that you provide the social contexts within which your study is located. E.g. Talk about increased media globalization and how that is important in understanding this or that.
  • Lay out the theories that would help you with your analysis.
  • Your revised proposal should not be too broad.  E.g. comparing the US and British versions of The Office, is too broad.  Comparing how this character is portrayed – their action, their speech, their relationships to other characters, etc., in the two versions of The Office.  Comparing how gender is represented in these characters and/or situations in these shows give you better control of the project.
  • You do not want to be “all over the place,” i.e. having scattered analysis that do not come together
  • The more focused you are, the more depth you can provide for your analysis
  • Identify the exact media contents you will use in your analysis, for example which episodes of the program
  • Provide an annotated bibliography to at least three sources that you are going to use for this project, please see link below
  • Link these readings to your thesis
  • Expected conclusion

Research Project Topic

1)    Compare a US TV shows that is an adaptation from a show from abroad with the original show abroad. (The Masked Singer)

You need to do research on the production histories of the shows – who funded the shows, production companies, how the show moves from its original country to the US.

At the same time, you need to go to CSI library(Uploaded log in information for access to database as a document on here)(Link to the database website: https://library.csi.cuny.edu/az.php) and search for articles, books, on the shows and learn more about the show. Try to find out what has been written about the show or shows. There are articles written comparing the original and the US version. A good project cannot be done without the availability of good sources.

You should watch the pilot of the shows and start to analyze how the two shows differ. Are there different cultural references? What about the settings? How are the characters constructed?….

Then you pick at least two and up to four episodes from each version and compare them.  You want to pick a theme to compare. For example, how the primary character is portrayed, from the perspective of gender? How he or she related to other characters around him/her?

Then you want to look for some response from audiences from both countries. They can be from social media, websites like Rottentomatoes, etc. You want to read from 10 to 20 of reviews from each show.  It will be even better if the reviews are from different parts of the world. Audience appeal

Hills Like White Elephants – the power of feminine strength

Hills Like White Elephants – the power of feminine strength

These are the official instructions for the essay:
“This essay should expand your previous work, into 4,000–4,500 words(+/– 50 words), providing a thesis argument of interpretation for the target primary work or works in relation to published commentary on the them.  Incorporate at least ten secondary sources (scholarly books, articles, critical introductions) cited by page number (in MLA-style format) for any information gained from them.”

I have already completed a substantial portion of this essay, as well as collected all the necessary secondary sources for the project, so all I am looking for someone to add onto my written work and create the last pages necessary to reach the word count requirement. Provide quoted evidence to support your rhetoric, and follow the style I’ve already established for citing evidence (just page number for secondary sources, page and line number for direct quotations from the primary text). Include evidence from both the primary and secondary text.
I have highlighted a few select portions of my written work that I wish to see expanded, but aside from these highlighted portions please do not revise the already written portions. However, feel free to shift the overall structure and placement of paragraphs within the essay: create paragraphs between paragraphs, realign existing portions with newly created ones, etc.
I will provide all the necessary materials immediately upon hiring.

Your seminar paper

You are going to write a seminar paper over the course of this year. The final paper is due Sept. 1, 2023. You will choose the topic of your paper within the area of Applied Linguistics and develop this paper through the year, semester by semester. You will complete the paper independently over the summer, handing in the final paper by September 1, 2023. You will also be taking a course (with Lori) during the second semester,  at the same time that you are taking my course, and in which you will be completing some of the writing required for your seminar paper. Lori and I are working together to help you to write up your research.

In the first semester, this course will introduce you to the topic of Applied Linguistics and the various topics within this field of study. During the first semester, you will complete three assignments, the first of which requires that you reflect on Applied Linguistics as it relates to your own language-learning experiences (due in Nov. 2022); the second introduces you to the content of the field via a researcher and his opinions and thought on this discipline (due in Dec. 2022), and the last of which requires that you choose and critique an academic article in Applied Linguistics (due in Jan. 2023). During the first semester, we will begin to write up research in academic English (based on a video), in the form of group work, during lessons. By the end of the semester break, you must have chosen a topic on which you will write your seminar paper. You are required to submit an informal account of your proposed seminar paper topic and ideas by the end of the semester break.

During the second semester, you will begin a unit of self-study on your topic, and writing up your research, some of this in class, while continuing to study about various aspects of Applied Linguistics as they relate to the topics of your papers. You may begin to collect data (on your own time), particularly if your research requires data to be collected within the academic school year. There are four assignments due during the second semester, most of which are a rough draft of a section of your final seminar paper. In March, you submit a proposal. Your introduction and References are due in April, the Literature Review and References in May, and the Methods and Procedures in June. During the semester, we will review the writing of each of these sections. In addition, we will go over how the remaining sections are formatted and written – how to collect data, methods to collect data, the analyses of data, the presentation of your research results, and your Discussion, Conclusions and final References sections.
